I left Durango about 10a and headed down to Albuquerque, where I had lunch at Los Cuates...I definitely recommend it if you're ever there. What sets it apart is the amazing chiles and salsas...some are definitely different than your typical Mexican restaurant.
Then I headed down I40 east, thinking I would stop in Tucumcari, but I wasn't too tired, so I kept on to Amarillo. Just outside of Amarillo, is the Cadillac Ranch. It's very cool...it's an art installation, where this guy half-buried 10 old Cadillacs nose down, rear-ends pointing up at about a 70 degree angle. In a perfect row. In the middle of farmland. And he encouraged people to spraypaint and write on them to create a collaborative project. It was really neat. Worth a stop...You can read more here.
So now I'm spending the night in Amarillo, heading for somewhere in east oklahoma or western arkansas tomorrow...I'll stop when I get tired, but the end goal is Memphis.
I'll put up my Cadillac Ranch pics a little later.
Oh yeah, and I have to give Matt props for both Los Cuates and Cadillac Ranch...his recommendations...your green chile is on ice:)
