I'm sitting at Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam, waiting for my flight to Budapest on Malev Airlines, the national carrier of Hungary. I'm interested to see what flying on them will be like...I don't want to be insulting, but I think I might see a live chicken onboard:)
I had a lovely Italian dinner last night...cooked by actual Italians:) The restaurant was cozy, my server was very cute, and the food was fantastic...what more can I ask for. I walked around a little afterwards. You know you're in Amsterdam when you see mostly naked women in the windows, coffeeshops abound, and you can't turn around without seeing a dildo. Oh yeah, and the rowhouses are pretty too:) And I wasn't even in the Red Light district!
I always feel good about trying out the native language when I visit new places, but I think I am going to be hopeless speaking Magyar, the national language of Hungary. Lots of consonants thrown together and a crazy pronunciation. Unfortunately it's a bit like Asian languages where if you mispronounce the vowel, you could be saying something else completely different from what you intended. We'll see...I'll try, but I don't want to get slapped for saying something offensive.
I get in around 5pm...it's the same time zone as Amsterdam, so I don't have to adjust any. And just in time to have a nice dinner of Hungarian food...hello paprika:)
I'll write more later.
