I made it through the workshops and am finally on vacation! I finished up around 3pm today in Eindhoven. Work has been crazy...I am constantly surprised by what goes on in my company..I'll leave it at that:)
So I hopped on the train to Amsterdam and took a LOOOONG walk to my hotel with bags in tow. Good exercise! I'm going to chill for a while, then go grab some food. One of the best things about Amsterdam is the variety of food. A percentage of the residents are immigrants from former Dutch colonies, which include countries in SE Asia and Africa. Then you have immigrants from other EU countries. So I can go eat Indonesian, Greek, Irish...whatever I want, with the exception of Hispanic food...don't see much of that here:)
Amsterdam is also a nice city to walk in...the canals, the old buildings, lot of trees....lots of things to look at, and of course, it's pedestrian friendly, unlike Atlanta.
And if some of you have a burning question in your mind of if I've smoked while over here, I'll have to give the boring answer of no. I've been too busy and tired. I've experienced that on previous trips, so I'm not missing out:)
Oh and Mr. Brayley, if you're reading this, they do sell absinthe here, but it's illegal to bring into the US. I'm not prepared to go to jail for you, so...none for you! I did take a picture of some in a liquor store window though...not as good:)
One weird thing I've noticed for the first time here: it doesn't get truly dark until around 10-10:30pm. The sun doesn't even finish setting until about 9:30p. I know I'm farther north here than ATL, but it's a little disorienting. I suppose I shouldn't complain...gives me more time to do things.
Lastly for this post, I neglected to bring a memory card reader or connection cables for the camera (d'oh), so I'll have to wait and post pictures once I'm back.
Tot ziens for now!
