Final trip update

I know I kinda dropped off the radar during the last week of my trip, so I wanted to fill in what I did.

So Tuesday, May 20th, I ended up driving until the wee hours of the morning to make it all the way to Memphis...I think I got there around 5:30a on the 21st. I just wanted to get to a place where I didn't have to drive for a few days, and I had napped for a couple hours that afternoon.

I spend the next few days with my dad and stepmom...I just relaxed and hung out with them. Friday, my dad and I went to dinner and to see the new Indiana Jones, which, though predictable, I really liked. I mean, it's supposed to be cheesy. Saturday morning, we all had breakfast, and then I left for Nashville.

In Nashville, I stayed with my friend Lisaann, who used to be one of my clients in NYC. She now works for a promotions company in the music industry. It was great getting to see her new place, and meet her mom, bunny and dogs for the first time. I had heard so much about them all! Saturday afternoon and evening, we went and walked around the old town square in Franklin, where there are a lot of cool little shops. For those of you not gifted with knowledge of Tennessee, Williamson Country, where Franklin is, is the wealthiest country in the state. It's where all the country music stars live. It's like Buckhead, only a little more rural because all the big houses are on ACRES of land. Then we went to Puckett's grocery to eat...it's a grocery store that has tables in front...they're famous for their southern food, and they have bands come in and play. There was a political fundraiser going on in the back, so there was musc and food, and a ton of people milling around. Also, one of the original General Lees from the Dukes of Hazzard is parked out front:) yee haw!

On Sunday, we tried to eat at Loveless Cafe, but it was jam-packed. Rumor has it that they have the best biscuits in the south. And their jalopeno bacon....mmmm. So we left and went to Bob Evans. Then we went to The Hermitage, which was President Andrew Jackson's home. That was neat...imagine a 5000 square foot house with no bathrooms or running water:) Then we came back and hung out with Madame Dupont and the babies...we were tired from walking in the hot sun all day.

Monday, we got up and ate breakfast at Cracker Barrel before I headed home. It was a great visit... very laid-back.

I spent Tuesday and Wednesday doing barely anything beyong unpacking and doing laundry. Dottie was so glad to see me...she couldn't decide whether to cry or lick me. I missed her a lot.

And now it's Thursday, my first day back at work.. I came in to a lovely surprise...my co-workers Aida and Ed had decorated my cube with streamers and balloons. It was so nice to feel missed:) But it's going to take me a few days to get back in the swing...I still feel tired and disoriented:) There are new people to meet here too...how things change in only a month. It feels like yesterday that I left.

Thanks everyone for reading my blog. My pix are all here.

And I'm already thinking of my next trip, though who knows when I'll have the time off...I want to fly into Seattle and drive down the west coast to San Diego. I hear there is lots of interesting stuff to see:)
