My housing visit and new place!

I went to Minneapolis last week to find a new apartment. Unfortunately, the weather was really crappy when I first got there, low 40s and rainy. Of course, the weather made me start getting a little scared of what I was doing:) A leasing agent took me to several rental condos, but I started to think that, since I don't know anyone, it might be better to rent an apartment. They seem to have more of a community.

So I visited a couple of complexes and finally settled on Eitel Building City Apartments. It's really nice and in a great location. Right across the street is Loring Park, which is like Minnie's equivalentof Piedmont. They have something like Screen on the Green, Pride Festival and lots of arts and community activities there in the spring, summer and fall. And Nicollett Street, which has tons of restaurants and shopping, is only 2 blocks away. Most importantly, the Skyway, which is an indoor link to ALL of downtown, is only 2-3 blocks away...so I only have to freeze my behind off for 3 blocks:) Oh yeah, and there is a nearby bus route that can have me at work in 15 minutes. My new place is only 2.5 miles from work.

The apartment itself is really pretty...high ceilings, open kitchen and living room with lots of windows and light (that's it in the pic above and I posted pix on facebook). I have two bedrooms and one bath, so I'll have room for visitors (hint, hint). I have heated garage parking too:)
Hardwood floors, with carpeting in the bedrooms, plus a nice balcony off the living room. I am pretty excited to live in such a nice place:)

So the plan for now is for me to leave on November 2, arriving either the night of the 3rd or the morning of the 4th. I have already changed my address, rented the uHaul and arranged for people to load and unload. I still have a little fear, but excitement is winning out!
