Dallas

I got up early this morning, then left Jackson around 8:30. I got into Dallas around 3:30, which isn't bad, considering that I stopped for lunch and gas.

Before I went to sightsee downtown, I changed clothes in a truckstop restroom. I had gone into the handicapped stall to have more room to change. I heard a knock at the door, mid-change, and I told the person that the stall was occupied. The person went into the stall next to me. All of a sudden, I heard moaning, and a person grunting, "Oh Jesus! Oh fuck!" After a few more moans, curses and grunts. I exited my stall and began to wash up. Then a small lady comes out of the stall next to me and hurried to the door. I guess she was embarrassed.

After all that craziness, I headed downtown to see Dealey Plaza, the place where JFK was shot. I saw the book depository where Lee Harvey Oswald shot from a 6th floor window, the grassy knoll (where conspiracy theorists think other shots came from), and the parade route that Kennedy's car had been following.

While I was standing at Dealey Plaza, which has three or four main streets running around and through it, a young guy comes up to me and asks me if I have a cell phone he can use. I said no (I'm not going to let a stranger have my phone), and he said thanks anyway. He walked across the street from me, and as he broke into a jog down the street away from me, he shouted, "Man it feels good to be out of jail!" Verrrrry interesting.

After walking around a bit more, I settle down into the park to read for a little while. Then when the sun started setting, I went back to my place to write this!

I've posted some picture of Dealey Plaza to my Flickr account. Here's a link:
